Week of July 12 - 18 in words & pictures

I have not posted new pictures in a while but it not for being lazy- we spread two truck loads of mulch and planted some new stuff so we've been busy.

The garden has kept its pace of growing like a mad beast, especially the gourd and white pumpkin- both have sizable fruit(?) growing on them and i think they grow about an inch a day and the trellis is working overtime holding up all that vine- and the cantaloupes are just starting.

We've also been harvesting quite a bit; corn, okra, tons of tomatoes, squash, cherry tomatoes and lettuce. So far we made lots of heirloom tomato salads, grilled veggie pizza and a heirloom tomato pizza with fresh basil and fresh mozzarella- pure deliciousness.

Well- a picture says a thousand words so lets check out all these...

Harvest Time- Week of June 28 - July 4

Well- we got our first harvest of squash and tomatoes- our Cherokee Purples are the ones that riped first and then a couple of days later we were able to pick some German Johnsons. We have already had two or three heirloom tomato salads and are in heaven- they are as delicious as store bought ones (we might be a tad bit bias though.) Also our squash was tasty as well- we stuffed them with a stuffing mix and roasted them for about 30 minutes.
